Bruschetta

A few days ago, I made cherry tomato, parsely and eggplant brushetta. What I like about brushetta is that you can use almost anything you have in your fridge (emphasis on almost: I don't want to hear about anything involving peanut butter, bananas, celery, or anything I find ghastly). This version was delicious (I REALLY love eggplants, it's my Mediterranean genes resurfacing) and not only full with flavour, but healthy and filling.

For one of those days

For one of those days

I've been sick for a few days, some sort of an odd thing that is completely draining me out of my energy. With it comes the groggiest mood swings, from being irritated by the slightest noise, to getting hyperactive all of the sudden, to laughing at the typical Susan moments on Desperate Housewives, to crying in front of the Tudors because Henry VIII is being so unfair to Anne Boleyn, and I feel so sorry for little Elizabeth. Big pathos here. Then Katherine Howard leads herself into the wolf's mouth (that's a French expression, dans la gueule du loup. Learn it). That's where my new blankie <3, the softest pink faux fur throw, comes in handy. Oh, and it also helps to cover my eyes during the scary scenes.
Spending more time at home (I'm always out, usually), I've made every possible variation of grilled cheese sandwiches, experimenting with different breads, cheeses, even deli meats, and a delicious brushetta with eggplants and tomatoes (I will post the recipe tomorrow).
Funny enough,  today as I looked at myself in the mirror, wearing leggings, I realized I lost weight. To be honest, I'm cooking a lot (watching Food Network gets you a lot of inspiration), but eating much less*, as I don't have much of an appetite. Except for water, and oddly enough, cucumbers. I've had a LOT of cucumbers, in slices, with a little salt and lemon juice. I think the main culprit here (or the miracle product, depending on the persepective), is Accutane. I've been taking it for a little while, and it's beginning to do miracles on my badly-behaving skin. I've read that the side effects (most of which are dreadful, thank you very much) could include either weight gain or weight loss. Well, I guess I'm shedding the pounds! Which means I'll soon fit into this delicate 1920s vintage lace dress I bought from Toulouse!

*No, I'm not starving myself. And no, this blog doesn't promote anorexia. Now go have yourself a grilled cheese sandwich instead of still finding a way to sue me (for your own good; I have the most aggressive lawyers. Rawr).

Guest Posting at Amy's!

Dearest readers,
I've recently had the honour to write a guest-post for the lovely Amy from England, author of Fashion's a Stranger. I wrote about elegance: how to have it, radiate it, be it! I've given fashion, beauty, and even lifestyle tips! (one of them is: be cultivated! One can't repeat that enough... Some people seem to think that Americans are silly, so we've GOT to prove them wrong!)
You can find my post here, and, as a bonus, read not one, but two stories, requested by Amy, about, well, medical interventions I've had... You might have a good laugh, even if like me, you're a delicate girly-wurly (I dislike using the term "faint of heart"). I must admit I have, not when the anecdotes happened, but much later.

It's the New Year, so it's time for resolutions

* Loose 15 pounds by my birthday (in March). Easy to say, given the fact that I'm currently craving white wine and a cupcake.

* Exercise regularly.

* Managing to do it like this guy.

FYI: Last time I tried to parallel park, it was downtown DC under very heavy rain and it took me a good 45 minutes. And I had someone on the phone telling me how to do.The last time I managed to parallel park correctly, it was during my driving exam. (Of course, if anyone from my car insurance company is to read this, JUST KIDDING!!! Disclaimer: the statement above was only made for entertainment purposes and has no connection  whatsoever with reality.)

* Wear daily a pair of the many new high heels I got for Christmas without the faint possibility of breaking an ankle. Like I was born in them!

* Publish my first novel (it's being drafted...). Must hurry on that one, because I'm soon not gonna be able to qualify as the young wunderkind writer, since time is ticking and I'm turning 20 soon.

* Thrive again in college and only get perfect grades.

* Make this blog get BIG. Post more frequently (that's a must), do everything for it to thrive!

* Take in hand some matters that have, well, gotten out of hand. And make sure they never do again.

* Be a better, worthier friend for those who have been there for me when I needed them.

* Procrastinate less.

* Have an independent job/remunerated occupation that I love and that I'm passionate about.

* Defeat the very crappy health problem I've been dealing with in 2011.

I send all my readers my best wishes for  2012! Thanks for sticking by! Loads of love to you all!!! <3 <3 <3
